On October 7th, 2008, Bordeaux was successful in attaining land-use re-designation for 1,748 acres of land for Harmony. The approval marked the most important step towards creating one of the most comprehensive, mixed-use, holistically master-planned towns in North America. Due to general development constraints on land, Harmony will enjoy being the only new master-planned community to have successfully attained approvals on the West Side of Calgary in recent years and most likely for many more to come.

 

In 2014, Bordeaux partnered with Qualico Communities and formed a development partnership to begin building the project. Inaugural showhome parades launched in 2015.

 

Major utilities and infrastructure are now in place, featuring showhomes from seven builders, the first, 40-acre lake, advanced water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities, over 12 KM of walking paths, a year-round Adventure Park amenity, and a vibrant and award-winning Discovery Centre to provide information and events for the community. 

The West continues to be a popular quadrant because of its proximity to the downtown core, the University of Calgary, Foothills Hospital, Mount Royal University, and Banff National Park.
